Chemically defined and Animal Origin Free
AQIX RS-I solution is a GMP manufactured, chemically defined, animal origin-free product, physiological balanced liquid medium.
AQIX® RS-I is a ‘Hold’ solution
AQIX® RS-I has been shown to ‘hold’ differentiated stem cells for up to 15 days under standard culture conditions. These cells:
- Retain cell receptor sensitivity
- Cell motility, e.g. Murine ES-derived cardiomyocytes
- Potency*, e.g. Human CD34+ hematopoietic cells
*maintaining potency refers to preserving a cell’s ability to self replicate, expand and differentiate.
Pre-incubation, storage and transport of cells in AQIX® RS-I gives a better yield and viability when these cells are then cultured in conventional culture media. e.g. DMEM or RPMI.

Applications
Superior retention of cell morphology and functional integrity.
AQIX® RS-I has been shown to be superior to conventional cell and tissue culture media in maintaining cell morphology and functional integrity, e.g. RNA quality, in human biopsies of skin, tonsils and colon. Animal and Human biopsies have been stored and transported in AQIX® RS-I over ice for 12 – 72 hours without degradation. Human protate biopsies transported over ice for up to 72 hours have been successfully transplanted xenograft mouse model.
Downstream delivery of Regenerative Medicines without the need for cryopreservation.
The future therapeutic use of stem and mesenchymal derived cell types indicates a need to be able to maintain the cells in a quiescent, differentiated state during delivery to the patient to ensure potency is maintained. This delivery medium will need to be risk acceptable to regulatory authorities, requiring an elimination of animal derived serum or solvents used currently for cryopreservation.
