What is so unique about the AQIX® technology?
In essence - homeostasis
Homeostasis is a set of multiple, dynamic equilibrium adjustments intricately controlled by interrelated regulatory mechanisms.
Cellular homeostasis is key to regulating the internal and external environments of any cell. It is essential for keeping cells energized and maintaining all aspects of cellular functions, in particular, enzyme processes, cell membranes and receptor sensitivity.
Homeostasis within the tissue means maintaining all constituent cells so as to retain cell-cell interactions. The most important of these interactions is between neurons and the organs they innervate.
The AQIX® RS-I platform fluid technology uniquely maintains homeostasis at cellular, tissue and organ levels. It does this by replicating the essential, intercellular conditions surrounding each cell membrane and is suitable for all cell types especially neurons and their highly, metabolic nerve terminals.
This fluid maintains all aspects of cellular function from autoregulatory mechanisms to the Krebs cycle and ADP:ATP balance. It has been demonstrated that the glycolytic pathway is sustained by AQIX® RS-I even under periods of ischemia and anaerobic metabolism. These are all essential requisites for cell viability and its ultimate survival.
The Benefits
- Human and animal cells, tissues and organs can be kept viable both hypothermically and normothermically for significantly longer periods than previously achieved.
- Cell membrane receptors of all cell types are held in an optimal, sensitized state and react as they do in-vivo.
- AQIX® RS-I can improve the predictability of preclinical potency and safety assays.
